CleanSpa™ is the answer to cosmetology epidemic cleanliness issues brought to public attention over the past 10 years. Numerous medical reports exist, ranging from poor professional hygiene and non sterile pedicure technique to actual public injury by the spread of disease. The Science of Pedicure, a publication by Robert Spalding, a Podiatrist, provides the most complete catalogue of information regarding this problem. According to Dr. Spalding, the cosmetology community is moving much too slowly in the direction of solving these issues. To date, at least 2 people have died in the state of Texas as a result of MRSA (Methicillin resistant staph aurous) infections in the past decade. He also points out the spread of dermatophyte fungal infections and pseudomonas infections is widespread in the US. He blames the industry for over tolerance and poor regulation.
CleanSpa™ is a new concept in medical spa providing a combination of both aesthetic and medical nail care. Services include multiple pedicure and manicure services performed by certified technicians trained in sterile technique by an outside agency. Additional training will be provided by Dr. Michael Horwitz. Dr. Horwitz will make every attempt to assure that professional podiatry services are available to all CleanSpa clients as needed. The cornerstone service provided by CleanSpa is a Laser treatment delivered under physician supervision. This treatment will effectively treat fungal nail infections and prophylaxis against infections as needed.
